The Miseducation of Paul McGill
It has dawned on me that I need to write a goodbye and a thank you. I sincerely want to thank each and everyone of you for helping and teaching me throughout these years. Over the years, I have met so many people and everyone of you have touched me deeply. I have learned so much. When I first started in the hay business, I knew nothing about hay and hay production. So, I guess that hasn’t changed. But my point is, I asked several people about it, and I couldn’t believe how many people attempted to “help” educated me. And much of the information and suggestions were very helpful. Throughout the years, I was lucky to be involved with many great people and organizations that were very beneficial to me as far as learning about the industry.
As far as the hay auction, I have been incredibly lucky to always have the best employees. They were all hard-working, friendly, honest, loyal and professional. I know that things would have worked out differently if this was not the case. So, I want to thank all the employees of today and of the past!
As far as customers/friends are concerned, I have been incredibly lucky to have the best customers/friends. I have learned so much from you. From things related to hay business to life lessons. You people have always treated me with respect and patience, which I really appreciate although obviously did not deserve. I have learned to never prejudge anyone on their ability to load from the looks of their equipment. Also never judge anyone for anything because you don’t know where they have been. I have also learned that we learn some of the most important life lessons from the least likely sources. I want to thank all of my friends/customers that have made these last 30 years a remarkable and extraordinary journey. It obviously wouldn’t have been possible without you.
As far as the future, I hope for the best for you all. I also ask that you give Eric & Betsy a chance, like you have me to let them serve you and allow them to prove themselves to you. Again, thank you for everything.
Paul T. McGill
