A young boy was at the corner grocery picking out a box of laundry detergent.

The grocer walked over and asked the boy if he had a lot of laundry to do.

"No laundry" the boy said, "I'm going to wash my dog."

"But you shouldn't use this to wash your dog. It's very powerful and he'll get sick. In fact, it might even kill him."

Undeterred the boy carried the detergent to the counter and paid for it, even as the grocer still tried to talk him out of it.

About a week later the boy was back in the store to buy some candy. The grocer asked the boy how his dog was doing.

"Oh, he died," the boy said.

The grocer said he was sorry the dog died but added, "I tried to tell you not to use that detergent on your dog."

The boy replied, "I don't think it was the detergent that killed him."

"Oh, what was it then?"

"I think it was the spin cycle.”

The Millionaire Farmer

A local news reporter is doing a human-interest story on rural families. She drives out to a remote farm to interview an old farmer who has worked the land for 50 years.

During the interview, the reporter asks, "Sir, you’ve dedicated your entire life to this farm. If you suddenly won one million dollars in the lottery tomorrow, what would you do with the money?"

The farmer sits back in his rocking chair, chews on a piece of straw for a moment, and reflects.

"Well," the farmer says slowly, " I guess I’d just keep farming until it was all gone!."

The Three-Way Forecast

Three farmers from different regions—one from humid Florida, one from arid Arizona, and one from the fickle Midwest—were sitting in a diner complaining about how picky the weather had been.

The Florida farmer sighed. "The weather by me is so picky, it can’t decide between a hurricane and a heatwave. Yesterday, it rained so hard on the front half of my cow pasture that the cows were swimming, while the back half was so dry the grass caught fire."

The Arizona farmer scoffed. "That’s nothing. In Arizona, the clouds are so picky they won't even form. It's so dry and hot that I saw a pack of hounds chasing a jackrabbit, and they were all walking."

The Midwest farmer just smiled and took a sip of his coffee. "You guys have it easy. Where I live, the weather is so indecisive that yesterday morning I went out to clear the driveway. I had to use a snowplow on the left side, a lawnmower on the right side, and by lunchtime, the humidity was so high the mosquitoes were wearing scuba gear just to fly."
