The Texas Rancher and the Bureaucrat

An arrogant government inspector from the Department of Agriculture goes out to a Texas ranch to check on compliance. He struts up to the old rancher and says, "I need to inspect your property, your livestock, and your crop yields right now. I have federal authority."

The old rancher nods slowly and says, "Well, son, you can go ahead and look around, but I'd stay out of that pasture right over there."

The inspector puffs out his chest, whips out his badge, and snaps, "Mister, I am with the United States government! Do you see this badge? This badge means I can go wherever I please, on any piece of land in this country, and nobody questions me!"

The rancher just shrugs, spits his tobacco, and walks away.

A few minutes later, the inspector lets out a blood-curdling scream and comes tearing across the field, running for his life. Right behind him is the rancher’s massive, furious prize-winning bull, gaining on him with every stride. The inspector is terrified, crying, and clearly about to get trampled.

The old rancher drops his fence pliers, runs to the fence line as fast as he can, and yells at the top of his lungs:

"Show him your badge! Show him your badge!"
